Objective and Background

The objective of the project was to create a modern, year-round greenhouse production facility capable of delivering stable, high-quality tomato production under controlled conditions. From a technical perspective, the greenhouse relies on automated systems for lighting, temperature, humidity and air exchange, combined with real-time monitoring to maintain crop performance and product quality.

The complex also integrates energy and sustainability measures, including its own energy centre, LED assimilation lighting and a closed-loop irrigation concept where drain water is filtered and reused. The project therefore combines high production intensity with lower water use and improved resource efficiency.

Key Challenges

The challenge was not only to build a greenhouse, but to create a scalable technical concept that could later be expanded. In other words: Phase 1 had to be more than a stand-alone block; it had to become the first chapter of a much larger production story.

Scope of Horti XS

Scope of Horti XS

Scope of Horti XS

"Horti XS contributed to the technical development and integration of the greenhouse concept, with focus on translating crop requirements into a coherent greenhouse design. The scope can be described around the coordination of greenhouse structure, climate systems, heating/energy interfaces, irrigation and water-technical systems, assimilation lighting integration and project execution support.

More generally, this fits Horti XS’s profile as an independent engineering and system-integration company for high-tech greenhouse projects, where the greenhouse is treated as the backbone of the turnkey project and where layout, logistics, yield, quality and energy efficiency are developed as one integrated concept."
